    Coordination of the development of medium to long term strategic plan for the state

    Formulate economic policies for the attainment of the development aspirations and expansion of the economic base of the state

    Coordination of activities of Planning, Research and Statistic (PRS) in MDAs and LGAs

    Carry out periodic reviews of project and programmes in order to ensure conformity with laid down objectives

    Responsible for the preparation of annual capital estimates

    Comment on memos to the executive council

    The Directorate plays a critical role in analysing and reviewing economic policies

    Provide expert advice to the Government on economic and financial matters affecting the economy

    Provide expert advice to the Government on the implications of financial matters affecting the economy

    Issuance of call circular and budget guidelines

    Prepare annual and supplementary budgets

    Ensure strict adherence to budgetary operational guidelines

    Monitor budgetary control and compliance with budgetary guidelines

    Periodic review of budget performance, advise MDAs in case of over expenditure and preparation of virements

    Process expenditure requests by MDAs and issue authorization and convey releases

    Collaborate with Finance and Debt Management Office (DMO) to harmonize financial data.

    Responsible for the development and installation of an effective accounting system for the commission

    Take charge of all accounting duties

    Manage all funds and public money due and receivable in the Ministry with due diligence

    Take charge of all disbursement of funds

    Advise the chief executive (Hon. Commissioner), the accounting officer (Permanent Secretary) and other heads of Directorates on accounting matters

    Monitor (carryout inspection) of on-going projects in the SDP with a view to identifying bottlenecks in plan implementation and advising the state on how the bottleneck could be minimized

    Prepare pre-feasibility reports on projects and also analyse and appraise for the purpose of determining their socio-economic viability

    Develop a framework to support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of government performance at both State and LGA levels. This should be inline with the SDP

    Collaborate with MDAs to develop results-focused key performance indicators (KPI) with clearly defined performance targets on which progress is measured.
